Director of Development, Youth Volunteer Corps
As the director of development for the Youth Volunteer Corps, Chelan David (j'94) is responsible for ensuring sustained funding of the national organization by developing and implementing the YVC Headquarters fundraising strategy.
He previously was the general sales manager of Univision, the global Spanish-language television network.
David has over 20 years of marketing and sales experience and has worked with such clients as General Motors, McDonald’s, Wells Fargo, Sprint, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. In addition, his writings have appeared in The Seattle Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Spin, CNN.com, Writer’s Digest, Smart Business, Entrepreneur, Wine Enthusiast, and the Kansas City Business Journal.
He currently holds board of director positions at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City, Shawnee Mission Education Foundation, the International Relations Council, KU Advancement Board and is a member of the Centurions Class of 2017.
David graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor of science degree in journalism in 1994. He is an avid supporter of the Jayhawks and Royals and lives with his two daughters in Overland Park, Kansas.
