Work schedule: Available to work 15-20 hours a week

Job description: This position provides communications and outreach support for the KU Libraries Office of Communications and Advancement. This paid position provides an opportunity for hands-on, portfolio-building experience in the following areas:

• Research, writing and editing for news releases and articles
• Implementation and evaluation of marketing and communication tactics
• Media relations and monitoring
• Web and multimedia content management
• Event promotion and set-up
• Various administrative support assignments

Required qualifications
• Must be majoring in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field; related experiences will also be considered
• Demonstrated writing and editing skills
• Experience writing news content for specific audiences using AP style
• Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail, as evidenced by application materials
• Perform basic offices tasks such as data entry, answering phones, making photocopies, etc.
• Available to work 15-20 hours a week and some evening events

Preferred qualifications
• Positive attitude and professional demeanor
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite software
• Experience using social media for strategic communications
