POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Duties may include the following:

  • Assisting with print and digital marketing campaigns for the utility
  • Assisting with sponsorships and special events
  • Producing public relations materials including, but not limited to press releases, newsletters, media lists, etc.
  • Writing and editing for internal communications and social media projects and publications
  • Developing online and other digital communications content
  • Participating in activities such as plant tours, etc., to learn about the industry as a whole, as well as understand KCP&L and what we do
  • Working to help administer and organize archive materials

POSITION COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (preferred, not required)
  • Knowledge of proper writing style and grammar rules
  • Knowledge of social media including Facebook and Twitter
  • Ability to write quickly with minimal editing required
  • Willing to work cooperatively in a team environment

RESULTS EXPECTED

  • Gain practical, real-world experience in communications that will help him/her grow professionally

REQUIREMENTS

  • College sophomore, junior or senior/recent college graduate
  • Degree study in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or related field OR equivalent experience
