KAKE, the legacy ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas, has an opening for an executive producer. We are a fast-paced newsroom that puts an emphasis on breaking news, weather coverage and brand execution. We are looking for a newsroom leader who will help make our multiplatform news product stand out.

This position will assist the news director in leading the overall vision, production quality and editorial content for all multimedia news platforms daily. The ideal candidate will have proven experience successfully identifying engaging content, teaching others how to do so, recruitment and developing a roadmap to achieve our goals.

Duties and expectations
• Enterprise news stories
• Lead and inspire news teams to work together to create a great newscast
• Write and copy edit news tories for on-air broadcast and for dissemination on our digital platforms
• Responsible for directing producers, reporters and photographers to complete assigned tasks, and structuring newscasts to fit within time parameters
• Teach staff how to write in an engaging and authentic manner and research for facts and credibility
• Teach staff to develop content through active listening and independent sources
• Coach and inspire on-air talent to be engaging
• Lead teams in the creation of unique newscasts and digital elements and segments
• Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
• Active participant in editorial meetings and take a leadership role in generating story ideas
• Must be active in social media and embrace producing content for multiple platforms
• Perform other tasks as required by news director

Requirements
• 3-5 years experience supervising and leading other journalists
• College degree in English, broadcast journalism or mass communications or equivalent experience
• Proven experience producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
• Strong social media skills, incuding an active "news hound" presence on Twitter on Facebook
• Knowledge of iNEWS and Edius preferred
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
• Experience handling live, breaking news situations and changhing events in a calm manner
• Proficient in multitasking, and have a flexible work schedule
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude and desire to win
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time and lift at least 10 pounds
