John Holt (j'81, l'84) joined FOX4 News in 1994. He co-anchors “FOX 4 News at 5, 6 and 9 p.m.” in Kansas City and serves as an investigative and special projects reporter.
John has won numerous awards including regional Emmys for anchoring, news writing, investigative reporting, general assignment reporting, and feature reporting. Media Mix, a media professionals group in Kansas City, named John its TV Personality of the Year in 2000, 2006 and 2008. In 2015, the Heart of America Boy Scouts Council named John a Ewing M. Kauffman Distinguished Eagle Scout.
John is active in the community as a volunteer, including serving on the boards of the Head for the Cure Foundation, the KU Advancement Board and the Kansas Bar Association Media-Bar Committee. He is a past board chair and member of Friends of Johnson County Developmental Supports and past member of the KU Alumni Association-Kansas City Chapter Board. John emcees and hosts numerous events for metro area charities, including Benedictine College, the University of Kansas, the University of Kansas Hospital, Blue Valley Educational Foundation, and The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association.
He previously worked at WIBW-TV in Topeka and KSNW-TV in Wichita.
