Marketing and communications intern (Lawrence, Kansas)
The Senior Resource Center for Douglas County has opportunities for interns in the Marketing/Community Engagement department that will provide hands-on, real-world marketing and communication experience in a nonprofit setting.
This renewable opportunity offers paid hours with hands-on, real world experience. This opportunity can also be tailored to fulfill certain course of practicum requirements. For those wanting to use the opportunity for credit, total hours and objectives will comply with credit requirements set by the school and the university department providing academic credit. This opportunity is open to undergraduate and graduate students. SRC provides a semi-casual environment and will approve scheduling flexibility when needed for appropriate academic deadlines.
Intern role and opportunities
• Assistance with management of SRC's social media strategies and content scheduling using Hootsuite
• Development and editing of content for SRC's monthly publication, Better Senior Living
• Development and execution of digital messaging using MailChimp
• Assistance with website basic maintenance and updates using WordPress, WooCommerce and Tickera
• Assistance with ongoing event planning, promotions and other related communications
Schedule and hourly rate
The weekly schedule can be flexible to work around your class schedule and availability
Hourly rate is $10/hour up to 5 hours a week paid biweekly via direct deposit

The Senior Resource Center for Douglas County implemented a complete rebranding campaign, with updates to be agency name, logo, website and internal publications. Part of this rebranding included an updated mission to refocus the agency to provide resources, information, opportunities, and advocacy that enhance the quality of the second half of life.
SRC recently returned to our downtown at 745 Vermont Street after a major renovation. This is an exciting time to be involved with marketing and communications with our agency as you will get hands-on experience handling day-to-day communications for our agency to be involved with ongoing communications planning and strategies. The senior population in Douglas County, adults age 60+, is one of the fastest growing segments in Kansas, with growth of over 24% over the last six years and 10,000 adults turning 65 every day across the country. This is a great opportunity to work with a niche audience and gain real world experience to add to your portfolio.
