Remote reporting internship
The Tab is looking for new, hardworking students at University of Kansas to fill positions in our new Remote Reporting Internship.
The position is for undergraduate students only and unfortunately graduating seniors are not eligible. This highly competitive position will give you the opportunity to write breaking news stories on your campus, as well as work closely with our team of professional journalists based in NYC.
The Tab is a global news site with 8 million monthly readers. We have sites across the country at some of the largest colleges and universities, and our stories have been featured in national publications like Washington Post, The New York Times, Vice, The Guardian and Buzzfeed. Other Tab alumni are now working for Reuters, Vogue, The Guardian, BuzzFeed and Vice – and last year, a quarter of trainees at the Daily Mail were Tab writers.
Our focus is on original reporting and local coverage, and we believe students automatically have an advantage because news is happening on YOUR campus. Anyone can write news, but we want to be the first ones to the story and covering it in a way that University of Kansas students care to read.
The training period for this position will begin this semester upon acceptance before the official approval round in Fall 2017. We’ll be accepting applications throughout the remainder of this semester and through the summer. During this training, we'll introduce you to our news process, explain all the tools we use for breaking news and teach you about what constitutes a news story.
To apply, please fill out this application and an editor will get back to you within a week after you submit. Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis into next academic year, but preference will be given to those who apply this semester.
