Sports information intern (Topeka, Kansas)
The Washburn University Athletics Department is accepting applications for a 10-month internship in sports information. The intern will assist the Sports Information Director and Assistant Sports Information Director with coverage of the school's 16 varsity athletic programs.
Start date is anticipated for August 1, 2017 and a successful candidate is expected to commit to working for 10 months (anticipated end date of May 31, 2018). The candidate will generally work 30-40 hours per week with weekend and evening work required.
Bachelor's degree in sport management, journalism, communications or related field. Other qualifications include strong writing and editing skills; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in fast-paced, deadline driven environment and general sports knowledge. Preference will be given to applicants that have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and InDesign) and StatCrew programs.
The appointment carries a $12,000 stipend (paid out monthly over 10 months) with the possibility for a scholarship for graduate level courses at Washburn. Enrollment at Washburn University for graduate level courses is not a required qualification for this internship.
