Summer internship (Kansas City, Missouri)
The Kansas City Business Journal seeks an intern for the summer of 2017. KCBJ is the source for local business news, and our interns function as full members of our staff. The general assignment experience we offer will prepare interns for life in a news gathering operation that carefully balances online and print, paid and free content. We offer plentiful direction and guidance — and the opportunity to push yourself just beyond what you thought was possible. Our staff works 8-5, Monday through Friday, with no weekend work and minimal evening engagements. Our interns contribute to our daily output of news (the daily digital product) and to our weekly edition (the print product). Interns can take advantage of our sizable social media presence, short-form digital stories and long-form print narratives. Early in the internship, you will be fed stories to cover, and as the internship progresses, you’ll learn to start generating story ideas on your own. In short, our 10-week paid internship will provide you with clips, experience, professional contacts and personal connections to help you build a bridge to your next job.
Applicants should submit resumes to Russell Gray, managing editor, at firstname.lastname@example.org
