About the Workshop
Welcome to the Jayhawk Media Workshop!
KU will host its 60th annual high school journalism workshops from June 9-12, 2024 on the KU campus in Lawrence.
Important Dates
- May 1, 2024: Financial aid materials due
- April 19, 2024: Registration price is raised to $475
- May 24, 2024: Last day to register for the workshop
- June 1, 2024: Deposit payment is due
- June 9, 2024: First day of workshop
- June 12, 2024: Final day of workshop
Residential workshop
The cost for the residential workshop this summer is $425 (until April 19) or $475 (after May 4), which includes . . .
- guidance and teaching from a great staff of journalism instructors
- coaching from KU faculty from the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications
- social activities in the evenings
- a fancy-schmancy camp t-shirt
- meals from Sunday evening to Wednesday morning including breakfasts, lunches and dinners
- double occupancy lodging at our residence hall
- other fun workshop stuff, including a water bottle
Commuter workshop
The cost for the commuter workshop this summer is $425, which includes . . .
- guidance and teaching from a great staff of journalism instructors
- coaching from KU faculty from the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications
- lunches on campus from Sunday through Wednesday
- a fancy-schmancy camp t-shirt
- other fun workshop stuff, including a water bottle
Adviser workshop
The cost for the adviser workshop this summer is $300, which includes . . .
- guidance and teaching from a great staff of journalism instructors
- coaching from KU faculty from the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications
- a chance to spend time with fellow advisers during meal times and instruction
- lunches on campus from Sunday through Wednesday
- a fancy-schmancy camp t-shirt
- other fun workshop stuff, including a water bottle

Prices
- (before April 19) Early Registration (commuter and resident students): $425 per student
- (after April 19 and before May 24) Regular Registration (commuter and resident students): $475 per student
- Adviser workshop: $300 per adviser
- Scholarship recipients: Only pay a $50 non-refundable deposit. All other costs are covered!
Payment
- Credit Card: Payment is available by credit card during the registration process.
- By Check: Or, you can mail a check to the Jayhawk Media Workshop office at “Jayhawk Media Workshop,1000 Sunnyside Ave. Dole Human Development Center 2067 Lawrence, KS 66045.”

JMW is committed to preparing journalists from all backgrounds for the work they do on their campuses and in their careers. In 2024, JMW and the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at KU again will offer multicultural and need-based scholarships.
