University Daily Kansan
Stories Never Stop at the Kansan
Since its founding 116 years ago, The University Daily Kansan has been staffed by generations of young journalists who seek to tell the stories of the KU community. Students hone their technical skills while working for a publication that has been consistently ranked as one of the best college newspapers in the country. The Kansan’s digital-first 24-hour news cycle means that there is never a moment when reporters aren’t covering something new.
The Kansan is an outlet for students on both news and strategic communication tracks with opportunities for reporters, editors, business managers, photographers, digital media managers and more. The Kansan has built a reputation for excellence, with many J-School graduates working for major media outlets. These include The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press and the Wall Street Journal.
Applications for staff positions open at the beginning of the semester, but inquiries are welcome any time.
The UDK has given me the leadership skills and direction in my career path that I've never had before. The UDK has become an essential part of my college experience!
