Communications and Marketing Intern


Duties

• Assist and compile potential vendors (organizations, schools, companies, etc.) to expand distribution and mailing lists

• Research statistics and facts regarding people with disabilities to support funding solicitation

• Research and apply for potential funding opportunities - grants, sponsors, etc.

• Plan and facilitate a fundraiser for the organization.

• Help solicit in-kind donations for fundraiser silent and live auction

• Assist with recruitment of contestants and volunteers

• Assist with mailings throughout the year

• Assist with the launch of the new Junior Miss Wheelchair Kansas program, marketing, fundraising, etc.

• Assist with efforts, projects and media outreach plan related to Ms. Wheelchair Kansas 20-year anniversary in 2025

• Assist with maintaining, improving and posting on social media platforms for the organization

• Help promote the availability and platform of current titleholders throughout the state

• Assist with program marketing, communications and PR efforts for the organization, the annual event and any fundraisers (including graphic design, reaching out out to media outlets, etc.)

• Cultivate marketing outreach opportunities

• Ensure full accessibility of all materials produced and of online photo gallery.

Expectations

• Commit to 10-12 hours per week, completing tasks for the organization. Hours can be worked on any day or time throughout the week, unless specifically requested by CEO Carrie Greenwood

• Plan, facilitate, and attend one fundraiser for the organization

• Must maintain weekly contact with the Ms. Wheelchair Kansas CEO

• Must have a working knowledge of basic research techniques and strategies.

• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, social media platforms and graphic design/desktop publishing software.

• Available for class credit through JMC 507
