Communications Intern
The Chamber, Lawrence, seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist with communication and marketing efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of the business community through the lens of The Chamber. This internship is a professional skills internship to assist the Director of Communications in implementing organizational communication efforts. The intern will work independently and with a team to fulfill organizational goals and initiatives related to programing and events.
Qualifications
• Working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field such as Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Business.
• Firm grasp of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Threads, and TikTok.
• Knowledge of HTML, website content management and graphic design a plus.
• Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Microsoft Office). Experience with Canva or other design software a plus.
• Experience with WordPress is a plus.
• Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well independently, and with a team.
• Commitment to the continuous improvement of service quality and the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities
• Assist in updating The Chamber and EDC websites using Wordpress with relevant news, images, etc.
• Proofreading any communication pieces.
• Design marketing material to be used for events, graphics, social media.
• Assist with database management, ChamberMaster/ Growth Zone.
• Using own phone, take photos at member businesses, or locations around town, with guided
direction.
• Assist with other communication platforms such as newspaper editorial and podcast.
• Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for communication and marketing
Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours: 8-10 hours / week
Compensation: $10 / hour
