Biography

Charles Marsh is the Oscar Stauffer Professor of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas. As associate dean of research and faculty development, he facilitates and encourages faculty, graduate student and professional staff advancement. His primary area of research involves interdisciplinary analyses of public relations, particularly via evolutionary sciences and classical rhetoric. His research has appeared in Public Relations Inquiry, Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Journal of Mass Media Ethics and other journals. He is the author of Public Relations, Cooperation and Justice: From Evolutionary Biology to Ethics and co-author of the textbook Strategic Writing: Multimedia Writing for Public Relations, Advertising and More.

His current research interests involve multidisciplinary explorations of indirect reciprocity, in which one party assists another without expectation or prospect of return and is rewarded by observant third parties.
