Eric Adler

Eric Adler is a long-time reporter at The Kansas City Star and winner of more than 50 local, regional and national writing awards for his feature and narrative writing. They include the National Headliner Award, the Eugene S. Pulliam Award, twice honoree with the McClatchy President's Award, as well as multiple first-place and other honors from the national Society of Features Journalism, the Missouri Press Association and the Kansas Press Association. Adler currently is an enterprise reporter at The Star with a speciality in long-form, nonfiction, narrative journalism. He has covered stories as diverse as the Joplin tornado to the Kansas City Royals' march to the World Series.

An honors graduate in physiology and zoology from Rutgers University, he began his career as a science and medical reporter. He received his master's in journalism, with a focus on science and medical reporting, from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York, He was named a Knight Science and Journalism Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Adler began teaching at KU in 2006 and has taught a variety of courses including basic reporting and writing, multimedia journalism and ethics.
