Temporary Account Executive, Tom Murphy Fellowship

The Tom Murphy Fellowship is designed to develop and enrich a recent KU graduate interested in pursuing a career in sports and entertainment marketing. This competitive position provides the opportunity to work at a leading global marketing agency and learn from top experts in the field. The candidate will work closely with a variety of Octagon's divisions, including Integrated Marketing, Experiences, Growth, Digital & Sponsorship Strategy, Creative, and ID (Inclusive Diversity) to learn about the intricacies of sports and entertainment marketing.
The Work You'll Do
This year's Fellow will support Octagon Marketing, which may include media planning and amplification, social content strategy, influencer marketing, and valuation, tracking, and measurement assignments. You will also contribute to our ID team frequently and support DEI initiatives across the agency. Other responsibilities will include on-site event activation, client services, and creative concepting, as well as day-to-day administration and organization of various program with some of our biggest clients such as BMW, Bank of America and Mastercard.

Who We're Looking For
• A passion for and expertise in sports, entertainment, music and/or celebrity and lifestyle culture
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Strong leadership skills and character
• Excellent communication
• Ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative and solve problems independently
• Social savvy with a general understanding of social platforms and trends to manage
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong graphic design knowledge
• Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically and work weekends or holidays as needed. Anticipated travel level: low (0-15%)
This position pays $42,000 annually and is overtime eligible
