Job Summary/Description:

The assignment manager will assign news personnel to daily stories. The position requires a very organized person who can keep track of the day's top stories while monitoring police scanners and coordinating with MMJ's, photographers, anchors and producers. Requires keeping track of many moving parts in newsroom coverage assignments.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Planning assignments before scheduled events.

• Help lead the morning and afternoon editorial meetings and assign news crews.

• Closely monitor police scanners.

• Make phone calls to get information to advance daily news stories.

• Tactfully motivate news personnel for the best utilization of their individual talents.

• Ability to calmly assign multiple news crews in breaking news situations.

• Post regular content to all of KCTV's digital platforms.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or related field
