This summer, I've had the privilege of interning with D Magazine Partners as an Events Intern in Dallas, Texas. Working alongside the Events Team at D, I've gotten a front-row seat to experience how a major regional magazine brings its brand to life off the page through meaningful large-scale events.

Each day of my internship brings something different. Whether I'm packing materials, registering speakers for upcoming events, setting tables and coordinating layouts, or greeting guests once an event is underway, the opportunity to be involved in every stage of an event has shown me just how much work goes into creating these seamless experiences that look effortless from an outside perspective.

So far, I've worked on six events across all of D's publications, and each one has given me a new outlook on how thoughtful planning and creative execution can vary depending on each publication's goals and audience. D Home, D Weddings, D CEO, and D Magazine each speak to a completely different demographic, and it's been eye-opening to watch how every choice, down to the smallest detail, is crafted with that audience in mind.

What I've come to appreciate most is that D’s events are the result of intentional planning and thoughtful hospitality. Behind every polished event is a team working together to ensure every element contributes to a meaningful guest experience. Watching my team's intentional approach to every decision has reiterated what professionalism means to me, and it’s a standard I hope to carry into every future role I take on.

As I conclude my time at D and return to KU for my senior year, seeing my name credited as an intern in the upcoming releases of D's publications will serve as a meaningful reflection of the experiences that came from taking a chance on a new city, new challenges, and the opportunity to grow.

This summer was special and rewarding in ways I could never fully put into words, but what I can say is that I’m beyond grateful I had the opportunity to play a small part in making Dallas an even better place
