Graphic Designer


We are a sports radio station looking for student interns with strong design instincts, collaborative temperament, and experience in graphic design software to create and develop visual concepts for promotional campaigns, marketing events, sales packages, and other digital assets for website and social media engagement.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of current design software and the design process from concept to the final deliverable. Collaboration with multiple station staff members is required and the designer should be able to take direction from both written and verbal cues and then convert them into a design that connects with listeners and our digital audience. Successful interns will have a general understanding of branding and marketing with the ability to vary style and layouts depending on the project.

It is recommended that interns work in the station 1-2 days (8-12 hours) per week. Interns must show proof of any graphic design courses they have completed. Internships are are available for class credit.

Objectives

• Work on a wide range of projects and media, using various various computer software to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs that meet business goals.

• Obtain input from management, ensuring designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the company or client appropriately

• Work independently and cooperatively on multiple projects with the promotions team, meeting deadlines and budget constraints, and scheduling project implementation based on workload, which may include five or more simultaneous projects

• Examine existing processes, identifying flaws and creating solutions to improve design capabilities

• Update and maintain internal databases of designs, photography, and video assets

Skills and Qualifications

• Proof of completed or in-progress educational credits in graphic design, visual art or similar discipline

• Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills

• 1-plus year experience (academic and/or professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.

• Portfolio or artistic or design work

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Organizational and time management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
