Marketing & Outreach Intern

Our Spot KC is seeking creative and adaptive Marketing & Outreach interns to join our team for the spring 2026 term. This role is designed for students who want to gain broad experience in community-driven work. We are looking for versatile individuals to help drive our presence across multiple channels, from event planning to digital strategy. You will work in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility, quick thinking, and the ability to adjust to shifting priorities on the fly.

Potential areas of focus
Event planning and outreach: Assisting with Pride Fest and other community-responsive events.
Content creation: Producing short and long-form video, photography, graphic design/templates and print or editorial materials.
Social media and digital engagement: Managing daily posts, monitoring community interactions and staying agile with digital trends.
Marketing strategy and operations: Supporting back-end needs such as email marketing, media outreach and fundraising initiatives.

Logistics and expectations
Team structure: You will be part of the marketing team animist attend two weekly morning sync meetings (available in-person or remotely).
Schedule: Flexible/part-time; requires the ability to "pivot" and manage multiple tasks in a high-demand setting.
Field work: Occasional on-site attendance for meetings, event coverage, or capturing footage at various Kansas City is required.

Qualifications
Technical basics: Experience with any combination of video editing, graphic design, communications, or social media management.
Adaptability: A proven ability to handle last-minute creative changes and shifting priorities.
Cultural competence: A strong understanding of LGBTQ+ and social justice issues, utilizing an inclusive and respectful professional voice.
Communication: Strong professional writing skills and the ability to collaborate effectively during team strategy sessions.
