KU receives 13 honors at KAB Student Awards
KU JMC students received 12 awards in the college visual category, including three first places, and one award in college audio at the 2026 Kansas Association of Broadcasters Student Awards competition.
Top placers for KU in college visual were KUJH's Emma Noble for “Campus Tragedy” in Best General News Story; Eli Greenwald and Charlie Marshall for “MLB Offseason” in Complete Sports Feature; and Ben Vaskov and Kace Spears for “Run It Back” in Best Sportscast.
Runners-up in college visual were Jaden Huehl for “Crimson Chat” in Public Affairs/Talk Show Program; Huehl and the GMIC News Team for Good Morning Indian Country in Best Newscast; KUJH/Alex Moore for “Cultural Burn” in Best General News Story; Kara Lyons for “Metallica Fans” in best Best Feature; and Lyons for “Jaliya Davis” in Complete Sports Feature. In college audio, Gabriel Stigers was second in college audio for his play-by-play of KU baseball.
Receiving honorable mention in college visual were Violet Frick for “OK to Not Be OK” in 60-second or Less Commercial: PSA or Non-com Donor Announcement; KUJH News Team/Jude Gosse, Alex Moore for “February 2026” in Best General News Story; Noble for “KU Operations Team” in Best Feature; and Emily Sutter for On Air Personality.
