Biography —
Hanbo Liu is a doctoral student and graduate teaching assistant at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at The University of Kansas. She obtained her master's degree from the East China University of Political Science and Law, and studied as an exchange student at Northern Kentucky University. Her research focuses on sports journalism and feminism, while also exploring East Asian cultural studies and the media portrayal of female experts. Hanbo’s master's thesis investigated the media representation of female athletes, a topic she continues to pursue during her doctoral studies. Additionally, She also worked on some news reports about the refugee team for the 2024 Olympics.
At KU, Hanbo teaches Information Exploration. Before this, she taught for over three years in China, delivering courses such as Mass Communication Theory, Journalism planning and Writing to both undergraduate and graduate students.
