About Old People Rock

Old People Rock is a podcast celebrating the wisdom, humor, and hard-earned stories of people in their 70’s and 80’s — proving that age isn't a limit to those willing to say, “why not?”. We're looking for a sharp, creative, and driven college intern to help us grow our audience and build meaningful B2B relationships across social platforms.

Position Overview

The Social Media Marketing Intern will research, develop, and help execute social media campaigns across **Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn**, with a specific focus on **B2B strategy and outreach**. This role is ideal for a student studying marketing, communications, business, or media who wants hands-on experience building brand presence and connecting with business partners, sponsors, advertisers, and industry stakeholders.

This is not a "post and hope" internship — you'll be doing real strategic work: researching what's working across the industry, analyzing competitors, developing campaign concepts, and helping bring them to life.

1. Research & Strategy

- Research trends, formats, and best practices for B2B social media marketing on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

- Analyze competitor podcasts and similar media brands to identify content and partnership opportunities

- Identify relevant B2B audiences (sponsors, advertisers, business partners, industry organizations) on each platform

- Track platform algorithm changes and adjust strategy recommendations accordingly

2. Campaign Development

- Develop campaign concepts tailored to each platform's strengths (e.g., LinkedIn thought leadership vs. Instagram visual storytelling)

- Build content calendars aligned with podcast release schedules and business goals

- Draft messaging frameworks for B2B outreach (e.g., sponsorship pitches, partnership announcements)

- Support development of paid ad campaign concepts, targeting suggestions, and budgets (with guidance)

3. Content Creation Support

- Assist in writing captions, post copy, and LinkedIn articles/posts geared toward business audiences

- Support the creation or sourcing of graphics, short-form video clips, and audiograms from podcast episodes

- Repurpose long-form podcast content into platform-specific assets

4. Analytics & Reporting

- Track key performance metrics (engagement, reach, follower growth, click-throughs, lead generation) across platforms

- Prepare weekly or bi-weekly performance reports with insights and recommendations

- A/B test post formats, timing, and messaging to optimize performance

5. B2B Relationship Building

- Research potential B2B partners, sponsors, and cross-promotion opportunities

- Assist with outreach messaging and follow-up on LinkedIn

- Monitor and respond to engagement from business accounts and industry contacts

Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (Marketing, Communications, Business, Media Studies, or related field)

- Strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn platforms — how each works differently for B2B vs. B2C

- Excellent written communication skills; comfortable writing in different tones for different platforms

- Detail-oriented with strong research and analytical skills

- Self-starter who can work independently and manage deadlines

- Interest in podcasting, media, or the growing "ageless"/multigenerational content space is a plus

- Experience with tools like Canva, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, or scheduling tools (Buffer, Hootsuite, Later) is a plus but not required

- Basic understanding of analytics/reporting (comfortable with spreadsheets)

What You'll Gain

- Real-world, portfolio-ready experience in B2B social media strategy

- Direct exposure to podcast production and media business operations

- Opportunity to pitch and see your ideas actually go live

- Letter of recommendation / reference upon successful completion

- [Add: college credit eligibility, networking opportunities, potential for future paid role, etc.]
