Summer Copywriting Intern

Are you a go-getter college student who loves writing, has a talent for storytelling, and wants to spend your summer gaining real agency experience while helping nonprofits make a difference?

Summit Marketing is looking for a summer copy intern to join our creative team. This internship is designed for a college junior or senior who wants hands-on experience writing for real campaigns that support nonprofit organizations across the country.

At Summit, we help organizations like food banks, shelters, and community programs raise the funds they need to serve people in need. As a copywriting intern, you'll work alongside experienced writers and marketers to help craft messages that inspire generosity and drive real impact.

What You'll Do
• Assist our copywriting team with writing, editing, proofreading and organizing direct mail fundraising letters
• Help brainstorm ideas for donor appeals, emails, social media, and digital campaigns
• Conduct research on fundraising trends and audience insights
• Learn how storytelling, strategy, and data work together to drive results

Who We're Looking For
• Current college junior or senior studying English, journalism, mass media, communications, marketing or a related field
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Curious, creative and eager to learn
• Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced creative environment
• Interest in nonprofit work, storytelling, or marketing is a plus

Internship Details
• Paid summer internship at $15/hour, up to 40 hours per week
• Ideal start date: May 26, 2026
• End date flexible based on academic schedule
• Located in-person at Summit Marketing's Office in Lenexa, KS (remote/hybrid not available)
