School of Journalism offers faculty workshops on online instruction

The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications is offering three online workshops to help KU professors get ready for a hybrid and/or online teaching format for the fall semester. 

The sessions, which will be led by faculty members with expertise in communication, instruction, presentation and technical applications, are open to all KU instructors.

Session 1: Hybrid Tips using Camtasia and Voicethread
 

July 22 at 11 a.m.
Learn about editing video lectures with Camtasia, a powerful tool to improve online teaching. The app makes it easy to edit and publish videos, add quizzes, outside links, or use as a plug-in with Powerpoint. Voicethread allows users to capture video comments and slides simultaneously and allows students to submit comments and questions as they watch the video lecture.

Session 2: Zoom Presentation Tips
 

July 23 at 11 a.m.
Take your teaching performance to the next level with tips on camera, lighting, location and using chat, breakouts, whiteboard and polls to increase interaction with students.

Session 3: Blackboard and Beyond 
 

July 27 at 1 p.m. 
Tips to build community and help online learners engage and access content quickly.
